Christmas is one of the best times of the year in regards to TV watching. There are an abundance of films, Christmas specials of favourite programmes and barrels of laughs. I thought today I’d list five of the programmes I cannot wait to watch over Christmas…
Sherlock: The Abominable Bride – New Year’s Day, BBC1, 9pm
*faints* Much like the rest of the world I have been waiting with baited breath for the arrival of another Sherlock episode. I believe this episode is a ‘one off’ rather than the start of a new series but regardless, I cannot bloody wait! It looks like our favourite duo are heading back in time to 19th Century England to solve the case of The Abominable Bride…the trailer looks mighty spooky so I cannot wait to cower behind a cushion and watch it with the family! And of course Benedict Cumberbatch can provide the eye candy…!
Gogglesprogs – Christmas Day, Channel 4, 8pm
Gogglebox is one of my favourite TV shows so when I saw that they were doing a version with CHILDREN WATCHING TV I got super excited. I love how honest and random children can be so I can’t wait to hear their opinions on a whole host of subjects. The children range from ages 5-12 so there are bound to be some fantastic things said!
The Secret Life Of Children At Christmas – 17th December, Channel 4, 8pm
If you haven’t been watching The Secret Life Of 4, 5 and 6 Year Olds then I do not know where you have been! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this programme so much. The basic premise is a children’s version of Big Brother. You take a group of children who have never met before, put them into a nursery/school environment for a week under the watchful eye of trained teachers and then observe group dynamics and the way they behave when faced with a series of tasks and challenges. It it such a sweet programme and has me in stitches of laughter. The way children talk to each other and their interactions are just so cute! They have made a Christmas special where the children put on a nativity play so I seriously cannot wait to watch this!!
A Gert Lush Christmas – Boxing Day, BBC2, 9pm
This is a one off sit-com written by comedian Russell Howard and he also stars in it too. I enjoy Russell’s Good News show so I’m intrigued to see how much I enjoy this! The basic premise is Howard brings his girlfriend home for Christmas in the West Country and as you can imagine, a whole host of awkward and embarrsaing moments are likely to occur. Howard’s sister, Kerry Howard of Him & Her fame, also stars.
The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year – Boxing Day, Channel 4, 9pm
I adore this programme, it is by far one of the funniest of the year. The show takes six comedians in three teams who battle it out to win the quiz that asks questions all about events throughout the previous year. The line up for this year sounds fantastic; Rob Brydon, Sue Perkins, David Mitchell, Claudia Winkleman, Greg Davies and Jo Brand. What a group! I am so so so excited to watch this although annoyingly it clashes with the above programme so I might have to watch this on Channel 4 + 1!!

That’s my pick of the Christmas TV this year! What about you? Is there anything I musn’t miss?!
